Sustainability

Why act NOW?

DEFRA is currently pushing through regulations that will heavily impact all of us. Tax-price based policies for waste are looming, and with UK targets already in place to enforce reuse and recycling, this will not just impact large manufacturers, it will also heavily impact KBB retailers and industry professionals who will have to provide a reuse or recycling option for items they are replacing in a customer’s home.

WEEE Regulations, future legislation

The need to increase consumer awareness of electronic waste and to improve accessibility of recycling collections for homeowners will become a legislative requirement very soon. New proposals suggest, for retailers with over £100k of electrical sales per annum, they will be required to provide a ‘free of charge’ collection service. In addition, all retailers will be required to make their customers aware of disposal options for unwanted equipment at point of sale. These changes are anticipated from 2026.
